Arding is a small rural locality on the New England Tablelands of New South Wales, situated within Uralla Shire approximately 366 kilometres north of Sydney and around 18 kilometres south-east of Uralla. Covering an area of about 55 square kilometres at altitude on the tablelands, the locality has a population of around 182 people and is characterised by cool-climate pastoral farming, grazing land, and rural acreage properties. The area falls within the broader New England region, known for its cooler temperatures, granite outcrops, and a distinctly southern European-influenced agricultural heritage.

Life in Arding is defined by its quiet rural character, with residents living on farming properties surrounded by open grazing land and scattered native timber. The community is small and close-knit, with most residents travelling to Uralla or Armidale (around 30 km north) for schools, shopping, and services. Armidale, home to the University of New England, is the regional capital and offers a full range of amenities including hospitals, universities, and major retail.
