About Badger Head
Badger Head is a small coastal locality on the northern coast of Tasmania, situated approximately 50 kilometres east of Devonport near the town of Beaconsfield. The locality covers around 35 square kilometres and recorded a population of approximately 62 residents at the 2021 Census. It is characterised by low-lying coastal terrain bordering the Tamar estuary mouth and Bass Strait, with patches of coastal heath and farmland.
The nearby township of Beaconsfield, known for its gold mining heritage and the 2006 mine rescue, provides local services approximately 10 kilometres to the south-west. George Town, roughly 15 kilometres to the east, offers additional shopping and services. The area attracts those drawn to a quiet, nature-focused lifestyle with access to coastal walking, birdwatching, and the broader Tamar Valley wine region nearby.
