About Bangerang
Bangerang is a sparsely settled rural locality in the Wimmera region of north-western Victoria, situated approximately 350 kilometres north-west of Melbourne near the town of Warracknabeal. The locality covers around 187 square kilometres of flat to gently undulating dryland farming country. With a 2021 Census population of approximately 62 residents, it is one of many small agricultural localities in the Yarriambiack Shire that support the region's wheat and sheep farming industries.
Warracknabeal, approximately 20 kilometres to the north-west, serves as the main service centre for the district, offering a hospital, schools, supermarkets, and community facilities. The surrounding countryside follows the typical character of the Victorian Wimmera — wide flat paddocks, mallee scrub remnants, and vast skies. A private vehicle is the only practical means of transport, with no public bus or rail services operating locally.
Bangerang falls under postcode 3393 and is governed by the local council Council (LGA). For state elections, residents vote in the Mildura (Northern Victoria) electorate.
