About Bonnie Rock
Bonnie Rock is a small and very remote locality in the Wheatbelt region of Western Australia, situated approximately 380 kilometres north-east of Perth near the town of Mukinbudin. The locality covers around 1,247 square kilometres of vast wheatbelt farming country and recorded a population of approximately 60 residents at the 2021 Census. The landscape is characterised by flat to gently undulating cereal farming country, salt lakes, and mallee scrub remnants.
Mukinbudin, approximately 40 kilometres to the north, provides limited services including a general store and fuel, while Merredin (roughly 80 kilometres to the south) offers more comprehensive facilities. The region experiences the typical wheatbelt climate — warm dry summers and cool winters — and displays spectacular spring wildflowers. A private vehicle is the only practical transport.
