About Boreen Point
Boreen Point is a small rural locality in the Shire of Noosa, Queensland, situated on the southern shores of Lake Cootharaba approximately 165 kilometres north of Brisbane and 19 kilometres north of Tewantin. The locality occupies 5.26 square kilometres and recorded a population of 359 at the 2021 Census, with a median household income below the state average. Positioned at the gateway to the Noosa Everglades, Boreen Point is surrounded by some of south-east Queensland's most significant natural wilderness.
The locality serves as a popular base for kayaking, canoeing, and camping expeditions into the Cooloola National Park and the Noosa Everglades, one of only two everglades in the world. A small general store and a public boat ramp cater to locals and visitors, while the calm, tannin-stained waters of Lake Cootharaba offer swimming, fishing, and paddling. Its remote yet accessible setting draws nature lovers and those seeking an escape from the more developed Noosa Heads coastline, making Boreen Point a cherished corner of the Noosa hinterland.
Boreen Point falls under postcode 4565 and is governed by the local council Council (LGA). For state elections, residents vote in the Noosa electorate.
