About Bostobrick

Bostobrick is a small rural locality on the Dorrigo Plateau in the Bellingen Shire of northern New South Wales, situated approximately 14 kilometres north of Dorrigo. First settled in 1857 by cedar loggers who harvested the dense 'Bostobrick Scrub', the area today retains its heavily timbered, hilly character amid the forests of the NSW Northern Tablelands. The 2021 census recorded around 135 residents spread across 66 square kilometres of scenic escarpment country. It sits within the Bellingen Shire Council local government area.

Bostobrick is popular with tree-changers and those drawn to the alternative lifestyle culture of the Bellingen hinterland. The locality is close to the magnificent Dorrigo National Park — a World Heritage–listed rainforest park — offering spectacular walking tracks and the famous Skywalk canopy walk. Residents travel to Dorrigo (14 km) for everyday needs, or to Bellingen (about 45 km) for a wider range of services and the vibrant arts-and-culture community. The area is particularly appealing to small-holders, hobby farmers, and nature enthusiasts.

Bostobrick falls under postcode 2453 and is governed by the Bellingen Council (Local Government Area). For federal elections, residents vote in the electorate of Page, while state elections fall under the Oxley electorate.
