Bournewood is a small rural locality in the Central West region of New South Wales, situated approximately 340 kilometres north-west of Sydney near the town of Peak Hill. The locality covers around 116 square kilometres and recorded a population of approximately 60 residents at the 2021 Census. The area is characterised by gently rolling farmland used for wheat, canola, and sheep grazing in the Parkes Shire.
Peak Hill, approximately 15 kilometres to the north-east, provides a general store, hotel, and school, while Parkes (roughly 50 kilometres to the south) offers comprehensive regional services including a hospital, supermarkets, and the famous Parkes Observatory and Elvis Festival.
