About Carabooda
Carabooda is a rural locality in outer northern Perth, Western Australia, situated approximately 45 kilometres north-north-west of the Perth CBD within the City of Wanneroo local government area. With a population of 444 residents across 19 square kilometres, it is a sparsely settled agricultural area characterised by plant nurseries, small-scale farms, and rural lifestyle properties. The locality takes its name from a nearby lake, derived from a Noongar word first recorded in 1843, and also gives its name to Carabooda limestone, a distinctive building material quarried in the region.
Carabooda is home to several plant nurseries, small wineries, and a wildlife park, giving the area a working rural and horticultural character. The former Dizzy Lamb Park on Karoborup Road, which specialised in vintage cars and military vehicles, operated until its closure in 2000 and remains a local landmark. Public transport no longer serves the suburb since the Transperth bus route was redirected in December 2008, making private vehicle ownership essential. The locality attracts residents who value space, privacy, and a rural lifestyle within reasonable distance of Perth's northern growth corridor.
Carabooda falls under postcode 6033 and is governed by the local council Council (LGA). For state elections, residents vote in the Wanneroo (North Metropolitan) electorate.
