Chepstowe is a small rural locality in western Victoria, situated approximately 175 kilometres west of Melbourne near the town of Beaufort in the Pyrenees Shire. The locality covers around 57 square kilometres and recorded a population of approximately 60 residents at the 2021 Census. The area lies on the volcanic plains west of Ballarat, featuring open sheep and beef grazing country in a typical Central Highlands farming landscape.
Beaufort, approximately 15 kilometres to the north-west, provides a general store, hotel, school, and community facilities, and has a V/Line station on the Ballarat Line.
