About Columboola
Columboola is a small rural locality in the Western Downs Region of Queensland, situated along the Warrego Highway approximately 10 kilometres north-east of Miles and around 340 kilometres west of Brisbane. The locality spans approximately 250 square kilometres of flat, open pastoral country and recorded a population of 68 at the 2021 Census. The Warrego Highway and the parallel Western railway line both pass through the locality, connecting it to the regional centres of Miles to the west and Dalby and Toowoomba to the east.
The Western Downs has a strong agricultural heritage, and Columboola reflects this with cattle and cereal farming as the dominant land uses. Miles, approximately 10 kilometres to the west, provides essential services including shops, schools, a hospital, and community facilities, while the Miles Historical Village and Museum celebrates the region's pioneer heritage.
