About Fairbridge
Fairbridge is a small rural locality in the Peel region of Western Australia, situated approximately 80 kilometres south of Perth near the town of Pinjarra. Covering around 113 square kilometres, it recorded a 2021 Census population of 55 residents. The locality is associated with the historic Fairbridge Farm School, which operated from 1912 to 1981 as part of the child migration scheme that brought British children to Australia.
The Fairbridge Farm School historic site is now operated as an events and tourism venue, with restored heritage buildings, heritage rose gardens, and the Fairbridge Festival of Arts held annually. The surrounding area is transitioning from its farming history to include rural residential and tourism activities. Pinjarra, approximately 10 kilometres away, provides shops, schools, and services. The Peel region is experiencing significant growth as a sought-after area within commuting distance of Perth, and a car is the most practical transport option.
Fairbridge falls under postcode 6208 and is governed by the local council Council (LGA). For state elections, residents vote in the Murray-Wellington (South West) electorate.
