About Falls Creek
Falls Creek is a renowned alpine resort locality nestled within the Alpine National Park in north-east Victoria, situated at an elevation of between 1,500 and 1,830 metres above sea level. Governed by the Falls Creek Alpine Resort Management Board, it lies approximately 350 kilometres by road from Melbourne and around 30 kilometres from the nearest town of Mount Beauty. The locality has a small permanent residential population of around 326, swelling significantly during the winter ski season when visitors and seasonal workers flock to the resort.
Falls Creek is celebrated as one of Australia's premier ski destinations, offering Australia's largest ski-in ski-out alpine village with extensive runs, lodges, restaurants, and après-ski culture. During winter, the resort receives the highest snowfall of any Victorian ski field, drawing skiers and snowboarders from across the country. In the warmer months, Falls Creek transforms into a summer alpine playground with mountain biking, hiking trails through the Bogong High Plains, and the High Country Harvest festival, making it a year-round destination for outdoor enthusiasts.
Falls Creek falls under postcode 3699 and is governed by the local council Council (LGA). For state elections, residents vote in the Ovens Valley (Northern Victoria) electorate.
