Finley is a rural town in the Riverina region of New South Wales, located approximately 664 kilometres south-west of Sydney and 145 kilometres west of Albury, within the Berrigan Shire local government area. It is the largest town in Berrigan Shire and sits at the intersection of the Newell Highway and the Riverina Highway at an elevation of 107 metres. The town had a population of 2,455 at the 2021 Census, with a median age of 51 and a median household income of $1,066 per week, reflecting its predominantly working and retired agricultural community.
Finley's economy is anchored in agriculture, with beef and dairy cattle, sheep, wheat, rice, barley, and canola farming sustained by the Mulwala Canal irrigation system developed in the 1930s. The town offers essential services including Finley Public School, St Joseph's School, Finley High School, and a Riverina TAFE campus. The Finley Railway Precinct is heritage-listed and preserves a rare pioneer-style station from the turn of the 19th century, while the annual Finley Agricultural and Pastoral Show held each September maintains a strong community tradition dating to 1913.
