About Gogeldrie
Gogeldrie is a small rural locality in the Riverina region of New South Wales, situated approximately 35 kilometres north of Leeton and about 50 kilometres from Narrandera, in the flat irrigated plains of south-western NSW. With a population of just 65 people spread across over 103 square kilometres, it is one of the most sparsely populated localities in the region. The area sits near the Murrumbidgee River and the Murrumbidgee Irrigation Area (MIA), which has supported irrigated agriculture — particularly rice, citrus, and stone fruit — since the early 20th century.
Life in Gogeldrie is quintessentially rural Riverina — centred on farming, irrigation, and the wide, flat agricultural landscapes that define this part of New South Wales. The locality has no commercial services of its own; residents rely on Leeton for schools, shopping, and healthcare. The nearby Murrumbidgee River and associated wetlands provide opportunities for fishing and birdwatching, and the region's seasonal harvest work occasionally brings temporary workers to the area. It is a place for those who value wide open spaces, quiet country living, and connection to the land.
Gogeldrie falls under postcode 2705 and is governed by the local council Council (LGA). For state elections, residents vote in the Murray electorate.
