Gordon is a small township located approximately 75 kilometres north-west of Melbourne CBD, within the Moorabool Shire. The 2021 Census recorded a population of around 1,393, representing strong growth of 21% from 2016. Situated between Ballan and Ballarat along the Western Freeway corridor, Gordon has attracted tree-changers and commuters seeking a rural lifestyle within reach of Melbourne. The town sits at an elevation of around 470 metres in the foothills of the Central Highlands.
