About Jerusalem
Jerusalem is a small locality on South Australia's Yorke Peninsula, functioning as an outer suburb of the town of Kadina within the Copper Coast Council area. Covering just 1.5 square kilometres, it recorded a population of 424 at the 2021 Census, with a relatively even split between male and female residents. Originally surveyed in 1871 to house workers from the nearby Wallaroo Mines, Jerusalem has long been associated with the copper mining heritage that shaped the Yorke Peninsula's history.
As an established residential fringe of Kadina, Jerusalem offers a quiet lifestyle within easy reach of the town's shops, schools, and services. The Copper Coast is known for its relaxed pace, beautiful beaches, and strong community spirit, with Kadina approximately 160 kilometres north-west of Adelaide via the Yorke Highway. Residents can access Wallaroo's beachfront, Moonta's heritage precinct, and the iconic attractions that make the Yorke Peninsula a popular holiday destination for South Australians.
Jerusalem falls under postcode 5554 and is governed by the local council Council (LGA). For state elections, residents vote in the Narungga electorate.
