Lake Burrendong is a locality in the Central West region of New South Wales, centred on the large man-made reservoir created by Burrendong Dam on the Macquarie and Cudgegong rivers, near the town of Wellington. The lake covers approximately 8,900 hectares when full and is one of the largest water storage areas in New South Wales. As a locality it has negligible permanent residential population, primarily functioning as a recreation reserve and state park.
The lake is a popular destination for fishing, boating, water skiing, and camping, attracting visitors from across the Central West. Lake Burrendong State Park surrounds the reservoir and offers camping facilities, picnic areas, and abundant birdlife. The nearest service town is Wellington, roughly 20 kilometres away, which provides shops, schools, and healthcare for the broader area.
