Leura is a picturesque village in the City of Blue Mountains, located 100 kilometres west of Sydney CBD in New South Wales. With a population of around 4,503 (2021 census), it sits at an elevation of 985 metres along the Main Western railway line and Great Western Highway. Leura is adjacent to Katoomba, the largest centre in the upper Blue Mountains, and the two towns merge along their shared western edge. The area has a long history, with Aboriginal occupation dating back over 12,000 years.
