Moorine Rock is a very small and remote locality in the Eastern Goldfields region of Western Australia, situated approximately 530 kilometres east of Perth along the Great Eastern Highway near the town of Southern Cross. The locality covers around 698 square kilometres of vast open scrubland, salt lakes, and mallee country. With a 2021 Census population of approximately 61 residents, it represents one of Australia's most sparsely populated localities.
Southern Cross, approximately 30 kilometres to the west, provides the nearest services including a general store, hotel, and fuel, while Kalgoorlie (roughly 200 kilometres to the east) is the main regional centre for the Goldfields. The locality sits on the Goldfields Highway corridor, historically a route for travellers and miners heading to the Eastern Goldfields. A private vehicle is the only practical means of transport.
