About Mount Buller
Mount Buller is Victoria's premier alpine resort village, situated at approximately 1,804 metres above sea level in the Victorian High Country within the Mansfield Shire local government area. Located around 240 kilometres north-east of Melbourne CBD, the locality encompasses a vast alpine zone of nearly 973 square kilometres. The permanent population of 333 recorded at the 2021 Census swells dramatically during the ski season, when the resort attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors annually seeking Victoria's most extensive lift network and alpine terrain.
Mount Buller features 21 ski lifts — the largest lift network in Victoria — servicing a wide range of runs for beginners through to expert skiers and snowboarders, along with dedicated terrain parks and toboggan areas. In summer, the resort transforms into a mountain biking and hiking destination, with extensive trail networks and alpine walking paths offering spectacular High Country views. The alpine village at the mountain's heart is home to a range of accommodation, restaurants, and ski hire facilities, making it a four-season destination for Victorians and interstate visitors alike.
Mount Buller falls under postcode 3723 and is governed by the local council Council (LGA). For state elections, residents vote in the Ovens Valley (Northern Victoria) electorate.
