About Mount Ossa
Mount Ossa is a rural locality and coastal area in the Mackay Region, Queensland, situated approximately 47 kilometres north-west of Mackay and 30 kilometres north of Mirani. Spanning over 111 square kilometres, the locality takes its name from Mount Ossa (270 metres), a peak that dominates the mountainous south-western portion of the area. With a population of 250 according to the 2021 Census, Mount Ossa is a sparsely settled locality within the Mackay Regional Council area.
The northern and central parts of the locality consist of low-lying, well-watered land suited to sugarcane cultivation, while the coastal fringe borders the Coral Sea to the north.
