About Nomans Lake
Nomans Lake is a rural locality in the Wheatbelt region of Western Australia, covering approximately 178 square kilometres about 195 kilometres south-east of Perth. The 2021 Census recorded a population of 59 residents, typical of this sparsely settled broadacre farming district. The locality is named after the shallow seasonal lake within its boundaries and sits within the Shire of Narrogin area, with dryland farming as the dominant land use.
Cereal cropping and sheep grazing define the agricultural character of Nomans Lake, as they do across much of the surrounding wheatbelt. The town of Narrogin, approximately 30 kilometres away, is the primary service centre for the district, offering shopping, schools, a hospital, and other essential services. There is no public transport in the locality, and residents rely entirely on private vehicles. The open farmland and quiet rural atmosphere make it a typical example of inland WA farming life.
Nomans Lake falls under postcode 6312 and is governed by the local council Council (LGA). For state elections, residents vote in the Roe (Agricultural) electorate.
