About Pontypool
Pontypool is a very small locality on the Tasman Peninsula in southern Tasmania, situated approximately 80 kilometres south-east of Hobart. Covering only about 2.7 square kilometres, it recorded a 2021 Census population of 53 residents. The locality lies within the Tasman Council area, in a region famous for its spectacular sea cliffs, dramatic coastal scenery, and the historic convict site of Port Arthur.
The Tasman Peninsula is one of Tasmania's most dramatic landscapes, with the Tasman National Park featuring the Three Capes Track, stunning sea cliffs, and remarkable geological formations. The Port Arthur Historic Site, a World Heritage-listed former convict settlement, is the peninsula's signature attraction. Nubeena is the nearest town for basic services.
