Redcastle is a small rural locality in central Victoria, located within the City of Greater Bendigo approximately 45 kilometres east of Bendigo and 18 kilometres north of Heathcote. The locality covers around 62.6 square kilometres and had a 2021 census population of 67 residents. Redcastle has a rich goldfields heritage — it was established in 1859 following the discovery of gold at what was originally known as the Balmoral Diggings, and underground mining continued until 1902. Positioned between the McIvor (Heathcote) and Waranga (Rushworth) goldfields, the locality retains visible evidence of its mining past in the form of abandoned mine shafts and tailings surrounded by state forest.

Today Redcastle is a quiet farming and bush locality where remnant goldfield diggings coexist with rural grazing and native state forest on three sides. Southern Cross Gold has identified the area as a modern mineral exploration target, recognising the locality's continued geological significance. Heathcote, the nearest service town renowned for its Shiraz wines and historic gold rush streetscapes, is approximately 18 kilometres to the south and provides shops, schools, and community services. Bendigo, one of Victoria's largest regional cities with excellent rail connections to Melbourne, is accessible within an hour's drive. Redcastle attracts history enthusiasts, rural property seekers, and those drawn to Victoria's fascinating goldfields legacy.
