About Sarabah
Sarabah is a picturesque rural locality in Queensland's Scenic Rim Region, nestled in a valley between the Sarabah Range to the west and the Darlington Range to the east, approximately 74 kilometres south of Brisbane. The locality covers around 23 square kilometres at elevations ranging from 150 to 700 metres, with land predominantly used for grazing, and Canungra Creek flowing through the valley floor. With a 2021 Census population of just 68 residents across approximately 24 dwellings, Sarabah is a small, intimate community under the governance of Scenic Rim Regional Council.
Sarabah is home to Sarabah Estate Vineyard, a family-owned winery set in the lush foothills that has become a popular destination for day-trippers from Brisbane and the Gold Coast. The south-west of the locality borders Lamington National Park, one of Australia's most significant subtropical rainforest parks, making the area a gateway to exceptional walking trails and wildlife. The nearby township of Canungra, approximately 18 kilometres north, provides shops, schools, and everyday services, while the absence of public transport means a private vehicle is essential for residents.
Sarabah falls under postcode 4275 and is governed by the local council Council (LGA). For state elections, residents vote in the Scenic Rim electorate.
