About Sisters Beach
Sisters Beach is a small coastal locality situated within the Rocky Cape National Park on Tasmania's north-west coast, approximately 25 kilometres west of Wynyard and 85 kilometres west of Devonport. Governed by the Waratah-Wynyard Council, the town has a population of 511 residents spread across roughly 7.9 square kilometres of coastal and bushland terrain. Its name derives from the two near-identical Sisters Hills, first charted by navigator Matthew Flinders in the early 1800s.
Sisters Beach is celebrated for its pristine three-kilometre white sand beach, clear coastal waters, and direct access to the walking trails and wildlife of Rocky Cape National Park. The area draws nature lovers, coastal holiday-makers, and retirees seeking a peaceful retreat well removed from urban pressures. Wynyard and Burnie provide the nearest substantial shops, schools, and services, and the historic Postman's Track—an early colonial route through the area—adds a layer of heritage to this naturally striking locality.
Sisters Beach falls under postcode 7321 and is governed by the local council Council (LGA). For state elections, residents vote in the Lyons (Montgomery) electorate.
