Spring Gully is a small rural locality in the Clare Valley region of South Australia, situated approximately 130 kilometres north of Adelaide near the town of Clare. The locality covers around 35 square kilometres and recorded a population of approximately 60 residents at the 2021 Census. It lies in the southern Clare Valley, an internationally recognised wine region known for its Riesling and Shiraz wines, with vineyards, olive groves, and mixed farming properties.
Clare, approximately 10 kilometres to the north, is the main service centre for the Clare Valley providing a hospital, schools, supermarkets, and community facilities, and is the heart of the world-renowned Clare Valley Wine Trail and Riesling Trail cycling path. The region draws significant wine tourism and offers a distinctive lifestyle among working vineyards. A private vehicle is essential as no public transport serves Spring Gully.
