About The Bight
The Bight is a small rural locality on the Mid North Coast of New South Wales, situated approximately 330 kilometres north of Sydney near the town of Taree in the Manning Valley. The locality covers around 8 square kilometres and recorded a population of approximately 60 residents at the 2021 Census. It lies in the Manning River valley, a subtropical farming district known for dairy, beef, and timber industries.
Taree, approximately 15 kilometres to the south, is the main regional centre for the Manning Valley, providing a hospital, schools, major retail, and an airport with flights to Sydney. The Manning Valley is celebrated for its scenic river, beaches, and relaxed lifestyle. A private vehicle is essential as no public transport serves The Bight directly.
