About Tinderry
Tinderry is a small rural locality in the Southern Tablelands of New South Wales, situated approximately 50 kilometres south-east of Canberra near the town of Queanbeyan. The locality covers around 273 square kilometres and recorded a population of approximately 59 residents at the 2021 Census. The area features the rugged Tinderry Range country on the southern edge of the ACT, with alpine heathland, granite outcrops, and pastoral grazing on exposed tablelands.
Queanbeyan, approximately 30 kilometres to the north, provides comprehensive services as a major satellite city of the ACT with a hospital, schools, major supermarkets, and transport links. Canberra's full range of services as Australia's capital is within 50 kilometres. The Tinderry Range offers excellent bushwalking, four-wheel driving, and access to the Murrumbidgee River corridor. A car is essential as no public transport serves this area.
