Upper Blessington is a small rural locality in north-eastern Tasmania, situated approximately 80 kilometres north of Hobart near the town of Fingal in the Break O'Day district. The locality covers around 172 square kilometres of highland farming country and recorded a population of approximately 60 residents at the 2021 Census. The area sits in the upper South Esk River valley, surrounded by the Midlands and eastern highlands of Tasmania.
Fingal, approximately 20 kilometres to the north-east, provides a general store, hotel, school, and community facilities. The surrounding region is known for its coal mining heritage, trout fishing in the South Esk River, and access to the scenic Ben Lomond National Park ski field. St Helens, roughly 70 kilometres to the north-east, offers more comprehensive services. A private vehicle is essential.
