About Wilson Beach
Wilson Beach is a small coastal locality in the Whitsunday Region of Queensland, within the Whitsunday Regional Council local government area, situated along the foreshore where the Proserpine River estuary meets the Coral Sea. The locality covers just 1.5 square kilometres and lies approximately 10 kilometres south of Proserpine and 892 kilometres north of Brisbane, placing it within the heart of the Whitsunday tourism corridor. With a very small permanent resident population, it is a quiet, semi-rural coastal settlement on the edge of the iconic Whitsunday holiday region.
Wilson Beach is bordered to the south by the Proserpine River estuary, a rich estuarine environment supporting birdlife and mangrove ecosystems typical of the Whitsunday coastline. The Whitsunday Region is world-famous for its 74 islands, the Great Barrier Reef, and Airlie Beach — the main tourist hub approximately 30 kilometres to the east. Proserpine, the nearest service town, offers supermarkets, schools, a hospital, and rail connections to Brisbane, making Wilson Beach a quietly appealing address with proximity to both natural beauty and essential services.
Wilson Beach falls under postcode 4800 and is governed by the local council Council (LGA). For state elections, residents vote in the Whitsunday electorate.
