About Yumali
Yumali is a small rural locality in the South East region of South Australia, situated approximately 170 kilometres south-east of Adelaide near the town of Meningie on the Coorong. The locality covers around 203 square kilometres of mallee scrub and pastoral farmland and recorded a population of approximately 60 residents at the 2021 Census. The area is on the fringes of the Coorong wetlands, one of Australia's most significant Ramsar-listed wildlife habitats.
Meningie, approximately 20 kilometres to the south-west, provides a general store, hotel, and limited community services, while Murray Bridge (roughly 70 kilometres to the north-west) offers more comprehensive facilities. The Coorong and surrounding South East region is celebrated for its birdlife, fishing, and the cultural significance it holds as the country of the Ngarrindjeri people. A private vehicle is essential.
