About Brookdale
Brookdale is a quiet rural locality in the Riverina region of New South Wales, situated approximately 30 kilometres south-west of Wagga Wagga near the small township of The Rock. Covering around 150 square kilometres of flat to gently undulating Riverina plains, the locality is characterised by cereal cropping, sheep and mixed farming operations. The 2021 Census recorded a population of approximately 50 people, reflecting its nature as a dispersed farming community rather than a nucleated settlement.
Residents of Brookdale rely on The Rock and Wagga Wagga for daily services, with Wagga Wagga offering one of inland NSW's most complete regional service offerings including Charles Sturt University, Wagga Wagga Base Hospital, a regional airport and a vibrant arts and dining scene. The flat Riverina landscape is well suited to broad-acre farming, and the community has a strong rural identity tied to the agricultural seasons. The nearby Kooringal area and Wagga Wagga city provide sporting, recreational and educational opportunities within a 30-minute drive.
Brookdale falls under postcode 2656 and is governed by the local council Council (LGA). For state elections, residents vote in the Wagga Wagga electorate.
