About Bungador
Bungador is a small rural locality in south-western Victoria, situated approximately 175 kilometres south-west of Melbourne within the Corangamite Shire. Covering around 35 square kilometres of farmland and bushland near Colac, the locality lies on the fertile volcanic plains south of the Otway Ranges foothills. With a 2021 Census population of 65 residents, Bungador is a quiet pastoral community in one of Victoria's productive dairy and mixed-farming regions.
The surrounding area supports dairy farming, beef grazing, and mixed agriculture on the rich basaltic soils of the Corangamite district, a productive farming region that has been farmed for generations. Colac, the service hub of the region, is approximately 20 kilometres to the north-east and provides schools, supermarkets, hospitals, and access to the scenic Colac Otway Shire. The Otway National Park and the Great Ocean Road are within easy reach, making Bungador a locality that combines the authenticity of dairy farming life with proximity to Victoria's most spectacular natural attractions.
Bungador falls under postcode 3260 and is governed by the local council Council (LGA). For state elections, residents vote in the Polwarth (Western Victoria) electorate.
