About Carramar

Carramar is a modern family suburb in Perth's northern corridor, located 30 kilometres from the Perth CBD within the City of Wanneroo. Established in 1995 as a subdivision of Neerabup, the suburb has grown to a population of over 7,000 residents. The name Carramar comes from an Aboriginal word meaning "shade of trees", reflecting the native bushland that once dominated the area.

The suburb offers excellent amenities including Carramar Village Shopping Centre, the Bob Stanton-designed Carramar Golf Course, and Houghton Park with its sporting oval and community centre. Carramar Primary School and nearby Joseph Banks Secondary College serve local families. The area attracts young families seeking affordable housing in a well-planned estate with parks, playgrounds, and access to Perth's northern suburbs via Joondalup Drive and Wanneroo Road.

Carramar falls under postcode 6031 and is governed by Wanneroo Council (LGA). For state elections, residents vote in the Wanneroo electorate.
