Churchill is a planned town in the Latrobe Valley of central Gippsland, Victoria, located approximately 160 kilometres east of Melbourne and 11 kilometres from Morwell. The town has a population of around 4,900 and was established in 1965 as a housing centre for workers at the nearby Hazelwood Power Station. Named after former British Prime Minister Sir Winston Churchill, it sits at the foot of the Strzelecki Ranges overlooking the Hazelwood pondage.
