About Cobblebank
Cobblebank is a rapidly developing outer suburb of Melbourne in the City of Melton, located approximately 33 kilometres west of the Melbourne CBD and 3 kilometres south-east of Melton's town centre. The suburb was gazetted by the Office of Geographic Names in February 2017 as one of eleven new suburbs created within the City of Melton's expanding western growth corridor. With a population of 3,601 at the 2021 census — and growing rapidly — Cobblebank is part of one of Australia's fastest-growing urban fringe areas, driven by affordable housing attracting young families and first-home buyers from across metropolitan Melbourne. The Western BACE (Business and Activity Centre of the East) commercial development is located within the suburb, anchoring local retail and employment activity.
Cobblebank's lifestyle is characteristic of Melbourne's modern outer western growth corridor — predominantly residential with parks, schools and community facilities servicing a young, family-oriented population. Melton's established town centre (3 km north-west) provides supermarkets, specialist retail, schools and the Melton Health hospital precinct. Melton station on the Ballarat/Western Line provides V/Line train access to Melbourne CBD in approximately 45–50 minutes, and the station is within a short drive or bus ride from Cobblebank. The Toolern Creek linear park and the Western Ring Road provide green space and fast road access respectively. Continued development of retail, parks and community facilities within and adjacent to Cobblebank reflects the city's significant long-term investment in the Melton corridor.
Cobblebank falls under postcode 3338 and is governed by the Melton Council (Local Government Area). For federal elections, residents vote in the electorate of Gorton, while state elections fall under the Werribee (Western Metropolitan) electorate.
