About Corrowong
Corrowong is an expansive rural locality in the Snowy Monaro region of New South Wales, situated in the far south of the state near the Victorian border at an elevation of around 700 metres. Covering over 360 square kilometres, it is one of Australia's most sparsely populated localities with fewer than 25 residents. The area falls within the Snowy Monaro Regional Council and is characterised by vast grazing properties, rolling high-country paddocks and pockets of native bushland.
Life in Corrowong revolves entirely around the land — sheep and cattle grazing dominate the landscape, and the community is tightly knit and self-reliant. The nearest service town is Bombala, roughly 50 kilometres to the north, while the regional hub of Cooma is about 130 kilometres away. The area is popular with trail riders, bush walkers and those seeking genuine solitude in the NSW high country.
Corrowong falls under postcode 2633 and is governed by the local council Council (LGA). For state elections, residents vote in the Monaro electorate.
