About Crookwell
Crookwell is a small historic town in the Southern Tablelands of New South Wales, situated approximately 45 kilometres north-west of Goulburn and 113 kilometres north of Canberra, at an elevation of around 887 metres above sea level. The town serves as the commercial centre of the Upper Lachlan Shire and recorded a population of approximately 2,098 in the 2021 census urban centre count. Surrounded by rich agricultural land, Crookwell is famed for its seed potato industry and cool-climate farming, with the region also known for its wind energy facilities on the surrounding tablelands. The town retains much of its 19th century character, with heritage streetscapes and a proud pastoral history.
