At the 2021 census the village had a population of around 230 residents, spread across a large pastoral locality covering nearly 68 square kilometres at about 540 metres elevation. The area is traditional sheep and cattle country, with the Tablelands landscape offering wide open skies and a crisp cool climate. The village features the Royal Hotel — a heritage sandstone pub that has served the community for well over a century.
