Gymbowen is a small rural locality in western Victoria, situated approximately 380 kilometres west of Melbourne near the town of Horsham in the Wimmera region. The locality covers around 140 square kilometres and recorded a population of approximately 60 residents at the 2021 Census. The area features the flat to gently undulating dry farming country of the western Wimmera, used extensively for wheat, barley, and canola production.
Horsham, approximately 50 kilometres to the east, is the regional centre of the Wimmera providing a hospital, university campus, major retail, and V/Line rail connections to Melbourne. The surrounding Wimmera plains are among Victoria's most productive grain-growing areas. A private vehicle is essential as no public transport serves Gymbowen.
