About Inglestone
Inglestone is a remote rural locality in south-west Queensland, situated within the broader Condamine–Balonne region approximately 60 kilometres south of Surat. Covering around 708 square kilometres, the area had a population of 63 at the 2021 Census, consistent with its character as sparsely settled grazing country. The landscape is typical of the Darling Downs and Maranoa fringe — flat to gently undulating plains dominated by native pasture and brigalow scrub.
Cattle and sheep grazing are the mainstay of economic activity across Inglestone's extensive pastoral holdings. The nearest town services are found in Surat to the north or St George further south, both of which serve the wider Balonne district. Like much of outback Queensland, Inglestone offers wide open spaces and a close-knit connection to the land for those who call this remote corner of the state home.
Inglestone falls under postcode 4422 and is governed by the local council Council (LGA). For state elections, residents vote in the Warrego electorate.
