About Keiraville
Keiraville is a leafy suburban locality on the western slopes of the Illawarra escarpment in Wollongong, about 80 km south of Sydney. With a population of around 4,000, it is best known as the home of the University of Wollongong, which strongly influences the suburb's character. The median age of 26 reflects the large student population, alongside established family homes in the quieter streets.
Keiraville offers a unique blend of university life and bushland serenity, with the Illawarra Escarpment State Conservation Area providing walking trails and stunning views right at the suburb's doorstep. The Botanic Garden and Gleniffer Brae manor house are popular attractions. Local shops along Gipps Road cater to daily needs, while Wollongong's city centre is just minutes away for more extensive shopping and dining options.
Keiraville falls under postcode 2500 and is governed by Wollongong Council (LGA). For state elections, residents vote in the Keira electorate.
