About Rosetta
Rosetta is a residential suburb located approximately 3 kilometres northwest of Glenorchy and 15 minutes drive from Hobart CBD. With a population of around 2,833, this compact community sits along the River Derwent and is bordered by the Brooker Highway. The suburb has a working-class character with a mix of established homes and newer developments.
Originally part of Montrose, Rosetta was gazetted as a locality in 1961 and has a rich agricultural heritage with historic orchards growing apples, plums, peaches and apricots. The area features both a primary school and high school, along with local parks. Residents are predominantly families and older couples who appreciate the quieter pace while maintaining reasonable access to Hobart amenities.
Rosetta falls under postcode 7010 and is governed by Glenorchy Council (LGA). For state elections, residents vote in the Clark (Elwick) electorate.
