About Teridgerie
Teridgerie is an expansive rural locality in the Gilgandra Shire of northwest New South Wales, covering nearly 244 square kilometres of flat to gently undulating pastoral country. With just 27 residents recorded in the 2021 Census, it is one of the most sparsely populated localities in the state. The area lies in the Orana region, approximately 30 kilometres northeast of Gilgandra, and forms part of the vast agricultural heartland that produces wheat, canola, and wool across western NSW.
Life in Teridgerie is distinctly agricultural, with large farming properties dominating the landscape and residents travelling to Gilgandra or Coonabarabran for most services and supplies. The locality benefits from the wide open skies of the Warrumbungle Dark Sky Region, and Warrumbungle National Park is within reasonable driving distance. The tight-knit farming community values self-reliance and the slower pace of outback rural living that defines this corner of New South Wales.
Teridgerie falls under postcode 2829 and is governed by the local council Council (LGA). For state elections, residents vote in the Barwon electorate.
