About Yatte Yattah
Yatte Yattah is a small rural locality on the New South Wales South Coast, located within the Shoalhaven local government area approximately 10 kilometres inland from the coastal town of Milton and around 200 kilometres south of Sydney. The locality covers about 24 square kilometres along Narrawallee Creek and recorded a population of 189 in the 2021 Census. Characterised by gently rolling hills and fertile alluvial flats, the area has a long history of agriculture dating back to early European settlement, when its rich soils and stands of red cedar attracted the first landholders.
Today Yatte Yattah is defined by picturesque farming estates and private rural retreats, attracting tree-changers and those seeking a quiet rural lifestyle within easy reach of the South Coast's beaches and townships. Views of Pigeon House Mountain and the Budawang Ranges provide a dramatic hinterland backdrop. The nearby towns of Milton and Ulladulla offer shopping, schools, cafes, and medical services, and several popular surfing beaches are within a short drive. The locality is car-dependent with no public transport, and the Princes Highway provides the main connection north to Sydney and south to the Victorian border.
Yatte Yattah falls under postcode 2539 and is governed by the Shoalhaven Council (Local Government Area). For federal elections, residents vote in the electorate of Gilmore, while state elections fall under the South Coast electorate.
