Middlebrook is a small rural locality in the Tablelands Region of north Queensland, situated in the Atherton Tablelands approximately 25 kilometres south-east of Atherton and 85 kilometres south-west of Cairns. Covering around 22.5 square kilometres, the area recorded a population of 62 at the 2021 Census. The locality lies in the lush tropical highlands of the Atherton Tablelands, where rich volcanic soils support dairy farming, maize, and mixed cropping at elevations of around 700 to 800 metres above sea level.
The Atherton Tablelands is one of Queensland's most productive and scenic agricultural regions, known for its cool nights, tropical rainforests, and the production of dairy, coffee, tea, avocados, and tropical fruits. Atherton serves as the commercial centre of the Tablelands, providing schools, supermarkets, and a hospital, while Cairns offers metropolitan services approximately 85 kilometres to the north-east.
