Moregatta is a small rural locality in the Tablelands Region of north Queensland, situated in the Atherton Tablelands approximately 30 kilometres south of Atherton and 90 kilometres south-west of Cairns. Covering around 18 square kilometres, the area recorded a population of 62 at the 2021 Census. The locality lies in the elevated farming and grazing country of the Tablelands, where volcanic soils and a temperate tropical climate support a diverse agricultural economy.
Like neighbouring Middlebrook, Moregatta forms part of the productive Atherton Tablelands agricultural district, one of Queensland's most significant food-producing regions. Dairy farming, maize, and mixed cropping are the main land uses in the surrounding area. Atherton provides the nearest services including schools, a hospital, and supermarkets, while Cairns to the north-east offers metropolitan-scale amenities and an international airport. Moregatta offers a quiet rural lifestyle in the cooler highlands of Far North Queensland.
